Check this page regularly for important announcements about the class. 5/6/05: Quiz 4, on Chapters 12 & 13, will be on Thursday, 5/12. I will be posting the study guide later today. You will have Tuesday, 5/10, to work on your paper summarizing your testing results. Here are the links to the 2 sites I mentioned earlier that allow you to investigate information on careers - California Occupational Guides 4/24/05: On 4/28, we will discuss interest testing and I will return the Strong Interest Inventory to you. On Tuesday and Thursday, 5/3 & 5/5, you will be taking the CAPS and scoring the Copsystem. Be sure and bring your COMPLETED COPES and COPS with you to class on 5/5 so we can score the whole thing. 4/19/05: How time does fly. Here we are with only a few classes left. I wanted to reiterate an announcement I made in class re: how to complete the test summary for the psychological tests you are taking in class. For each test you take, I want you to complete one typed paragraph that answers these 2 questions: What did I learn about myself? How might this information affect my career planning and/or life? You would turn this 1-2 page typed paper in to me by the last day of class. I recommend you complete each paragraph right after you get the test back so you will have a more spontaneous and varied response. 4/1/05: Happy April Fool's Day! I was going to say, there would be no quiz on Thursday, 4/7, and then say, "April Fool". I think I won't do that. Instead, I will tell you there is a study guide available on the home page and here. There will only be 25 questions on the quiz. I am reducing the total points for the class to 300 rather than 325 so that each question is still only worth 1 point. Use the study guide and my lecture to focus your reading and study for this quiz. In that we will have extra time on Thursday, I will have you complete the teacher evaluation for the class PRIOR to the quiz on Thursday. This won't take very long and neither will the quiz so you will still be on your way early that day. One final announcement: on Tuesday April 26th, I will be out of town so we will not meet. Instead, I will give you the 2 sections of the Copsystem to complete on your own rather than in class. I will hand these out the week prior to April 26th. You will need to bring them back to class for scoring on Thursday, 5/5/05 (that was fun to type). 3/7/05: I posted the study guide for quiz 2 which is scheduled on 3/15/05. It covers chapter 4, 5, & 6. 2/21/05: Two important announcements:
2/15/05: Our schedule this week will involve completing chapter 3 and taking the MBTI, on Thursday. Once again, the quiz is on Tuesday, 2/22. It will consist of 50 multiple choice questions from the material we covered in chapters 1, 2 & 3. The study guide for quiz 1 is posted on the home page in the table. 2/8/05: If you have not paid for the testing, the deadline is this Tuesday. You will be taking the Strong Interest Inventory in class after a brief lecture. Please bring a #2 pencil and your interests to class. I will be reluctant to give the test to anyone who has not paid their fees as the test is a prepaid instrument (translation: I already paid for the test and scoring when I ordered it). I am putting the extra copy of the book I just received on reserve at the Reserve Book Room of the library tomorrow. Our first quiz is on Tuesday, 2/22; bring #2 pencil and NCS #4521 answer sheet. 2/1/05: Bring either a check or $25 in cash to class on Thursday to pay testing fees to your teacher. The textbook will not be in the bookstore until 2/8-10 so I put the first 3 chapters on reserve at the library. Go to Reserve book room, look under my name and you will see that copies of each chapter are listed by chapter and name of chapter. You can check them out and make copies. When I receive an extra copy of the book, I will also put that on reserve.
