In this section, I offer a glimpse of the tremendous impact of the iMET program on my use of technology both inside and outside of the classroom. It would be difficult to even begin to describe how much I have learned in terms of using various software for the creation of documents, web pages, and video. Never have I learned so much in so little time. I have truly integrated technology in my classes by offering all course materials online via WebCT and teaching students to effectively use technology to complete assignments. To view the web site I developed to assist students to use WebCT, click on the link below. In terms of impact outside of the classroom, I will need to share a bit of personal background with you. When I began the iMET program in August 2001, I was an avid video camera user. My father, a professional photographer, gave me my first video camera in 1975. Since then, I have filmed everything in sight - babies, weddings, birthdays, holidays, speakers and classes. The summer before iMET began, I learned to edit video digitally with an iMac computer using the iMovie program. I learned to do this because my father died and I wanted to create a tribute to him for his funeral service. Learning to edit video is the most rewarding technology tool I have mastered. In the past 18 months, I have created 10 movies using the iMovie program. To view samples of these movies, click on the Movie link below. Four of the movies I made were related to iMET itself. These included a video on Concept Attainment, an Excel Tutorial, a tribute to my cohort, entitled Tribute to iMET_3 and a tutorial on the Endnote program for use by students in the iMET program. To download web versions of any of these iMET movies as Quicktime files, use the iMET Movie link below. Finally, the impact the program has had upon me can also be seen in the work of my students. For the last 2 semesters, I have utilized my Who is Sigmund Freud activity to encourage students to present their group projects online. I am amazed at the results. You can view several web sites created by my students by clicking on the link below.
